Go Bus is really excited to be trialling electric buses on our 380 Airporter service in Auckland.
Working in partnership with Auckland Transport we will have an ADL electric bus and a Yutong electric bus running on Route 380 services between Onehunga, the Airport and Manukau City Centre. The trial will give Go Bus significant experience in the operation of electric buses and will help AT develop a Zero Emissions Bus Roadmap for Auckland. Specialised charging infrastructure has now been installed at our Mangere Depot, and training is underway for the drivers.
Each bus has subtle differences and will require a bespoke method to efficiently manage charging, battery use and the electric drivetrain. We will trial them for between six to twelve months to see how they perform on this busy route, which operates every 15 minutes from 4.30am in the morning right through to 1.30am the next day, seven days a week. The long operating day and large number of kms travelled on the 380 will be a very good test of this evolving technology. Travelling to or from the airport? Watch out for the distinctive orange 380 EV livery and take a ride on one!
